3. Danny Boy
Méav Ní Mhaolchatha sang Danny Boy for the first Celtic Woman show at The Helix. Shannon and I believe Méav to be the finest of all the Celtic Woman singers, and it is this performance that displays the peak of her talent. The song is not flashy, but extravagance is unneeded. On the contrary, it is the simplicity of the arrangement that allows Méav’s pure voice to come alive. With the accompaniment of a choir she tells this tragic story with graceful beauty, impressing upon her audience a sense of serene sadness.
