2. The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun
There is something magical about The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun, the opening number for Celtic Woman: A New Journey. Máiréad begins the piece with an air, and soon Chloë, Méav, Hayley, Órla, and Lisa join her, their delicate voices reflecting off one another. The song rises slowly in intensity until Máiréad bursts forth with her electrifying fiddle, twirling in time with the fiery reel. The song continues to broaden, like the sky at dawn, and by the end the sun is shining brightly over the audience at Slane Castle. This exciting crescendo, coupled with an excellent performance by the ensemble, makes The Sun and the Dawn and the Sun one of the best Celtic Woman songs ever performed.
