As many of you know, last night Shannon and I attended the Celtic Woman concert at Van Andel Arena. It was a spectacular evening, and this morning we are savoring the memories that were made just twelve hours ago. It was fun to see Chloë, Lisa, and Máiréad, as well as the the new member for this tour, Lisa Lambe. Shannon and I agree that no one will ever sufficiently replace Méav and Órla. There was something very special about the original five girls performing all together, but Lisa Lambe proved to be a talented and spirited performer. The concert opened with Níl Sé’n Lá, a rousing song that awakened the audience to the energy of the performance. The program included a few new pieces written especially for this tour and several favorites that have been done ever since the first Celtic Woman concert at The Helix. One of the most memorable moments of the night was when the bagpipe player walked from the back of the arena through the aisle while playing Amazing Grace for the opening of that song. The last song we heard was Spanish Lady, in which everyone got on their feet and clapped (and in Shannon and my case, sang) along. As the girls waved goodbye and left the stage we couldn’t believe it was over. It seemed like we had just woken up from a wonderful dream. Shannon and I are so thankful for the opportunity to see such a talented group of ladies, and will continue to enjoy listening, dancing, and singing along with Celtic Woman.
